Q What is a Goldshield Shop & what additional services does that offer me?

Auto Tech is very proud of our Gold Shield Station Status that we achieved in
October 2004. Please read the requirements below or visit the
Gold Shield Website for the entire criteria.
The Gold Shield Program helps consumers locate higher
performing Smog Check stations that can do regular smog checks, test only smog's, repair, retest, and certify Gross
Polluters. Having a Gold Shield station repair and certify a vehicle means that
the owner can bring their vehicle to one place and when the repairs are done you
will have your smog certification.
Gold Shield Eligibility Criteria:
A Gold Shield station must have no disciplinary actions against its Automotive
Repair Dealer Registration (ARD), Smog Check station license or the licenses of
its technicians or managers.
A Gold Shield Station must meet strict testing and repair performance standards
each calendar quarter; and
submit to periodic performance inspections and monitoring.
In addition to the above all Smog Technicians must hold a ASE Master Certified Technicians and the L1 Alternative Fuels certification. They must take smog update classes every other year and stay up on all smog legislation to renew their smog license.
Q How often should I have my oil changed?
A A-1 Auto Tech recommends having your oil changed every 4000 miles/4 months. Why? Please read our newsletter on "Why have an oil change". In addition to getting your oil changed A-1 Auto Tech does a 60 point safety inspection that can find problems before they occur. A-1 notes all the recommendations and at your next oil change or service we will check these areas to insure that your vehicle is still safe for you and your family to drive. Every time you come to A-1 prior to your service, we fill out a history sheet for our mechanics to study so they know, along with the rest of us in the service department, what condition your car was in at your last service. Some of our customers don't drive 4000 miles in a year. No problem!!! When you get your oil change reminder card stop by our office & we will check your fluids & tires for free and reset the reminder.
